Director’s Message

Dear friends,

At the Center for Climate and Life—based at Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory—our commitment to understanding how climate change will affect our lives has driven us to accomplish a great deal in the past two years. We’ve empowered leading scientists, fueled collaborative research and partnerships, and led breakthroughs that address climate challenges.

We wanted to take a moment to reflect on everything our supporters have helped us achieve and learn as we work to find solutions to one of the most complex issues facing our planet.

I’m excited to share our first biennial report with you. Here you’ll find stories about how the Center is spurring innovative, impactful science, how we’re engaging stakeholders, and how you’ve helped us grow and succeed.

The challenges and opportunities presented by climate change require creative and robust interdisciplinary approaches. I’m proud to see our scientists leading the way in advancing the knowledge we need to inform solutions.

I hope you enjoy learning about the Center’s recent growth and successes, which would not have occurred without your support.

On behalf of all of our scientists, thank you for your interest in our work.

With gratitude,

Peter de Menocal
